Sabinium is a short abstract animation loosely based on an early Roman mythological tale. The historical legend of the founding of Rome by Romulus and his followers. The tale of the Sabine women takes place in central Italy at a time when the Roman Empire (led by Romulus) was in it's formative stages. After a short time it was realized that the Roman Empire would falter in a generation or two because of lack of women for the early Romans to breed with and produce male children. At first the Romans asked for the women. When their offer was turned down the Romans invited the people of the Sabine region to a festival for a celebration to the god Neptune. Many of the Sabine tribe showed up and halfway through the planned event the Romans surprised the guests and abducted most of the Sabine women. After raping the women, Romulus ordered his men to treat the women as goddesses. When the Sabine men later returned for their women, they were rejected. The women were now content and chose to stay with the Romans. The Romans and the Sabines were reconciled and the city of ROME could continue on the path to greatness. |
